I made this suit for my boyfriend as my project for a tailoring class. I used Burda pattern 8186, and I was so pleased with the results! I learned so much making this, and it gave me a new appreciation for all that goes into making a men’s suit jacket. I found a gorgeous Pendleton wool that had a lot of green and gray tones, and used a gold-ish lining that complemented the wool nicely.
Wool, rayon lining, interfacing.

The only thing I can say to that is; WOW!
What a wonderful job you did, also, you really don’t see enough people wearing three piece suits these days when they might actually be the epitome of awesome

Does that man come with the suit ;-). Holy! You have conquered the
albatross that any seamstress has….although, as women we can
make the excuse that we ‘just aren’t interested in men’s fashion’
So fabulous, I am NOT showing my husband this because he
will feel cheated with all the hours I have committed to myself.
Fabulous-oh! Congratulations! Great work!

I think you are brilliant. This has got to be the hardest thing to get right and you have in aces. Perfect fabric choices too.

WOWOWOW! I’m very impressed! Sewing for a man! Tailoring! 3 piece matching suit! I think my head is going to explode.

YOU.DID.NOT.MAKE.THAT. nope, i don’t believe it. that’s just beyond my ambitions in sewing and i am in awe. in the knitting world, there is something known as “the sweater curse” where you’re not supposed to knit your man a sweater before marriage or it will curse the relationship. clearly, the curse doesn’t exist in the sewing world cuz you can tell THAT MAN IS LOVING HIMSELF (AND YOU) IN THAT SUIT!!! really, i hope he adores you for this, and i hope you got an A in tailoring!!!

Thanks so much for your comment! I literally laughed out loud at the “sweater curse”. I hope that’s not the case for me! Ha ha ha. He looooooves the suit and was so excited to wear it to a friend’s wedding in May.

Wow wow wow and wow! Looks like Armani. I have never had the nerve to do anything for a male except lounge pants in flannel with a matching blanky and a neck tie. You make me want to do one now…..nahhhh. I’m not ready yet.

Wonderful tailoring job. He looks quite elegant. Kudos to you for this. I have the pattern but haven’t tried the coat, yet. It’s been over 25 years since I have done men’s tailoring and I think the details may have left the (mental) premises. Cordially, Nehmah
