Thread Theory Green Merino Newcastle Cardigan

Added Aug 16, 2014

by schnui

Brisbane, Australia

I made this cardigan for my son using the Thread Theory Newcastle cardigan pattern. This was such a pleasure to make and the pattern is so well designed and instructions were fabulous. My only alteration was to lengthen the cardigan by 5 inches. My son is tall and has quite a long body. He is delighted with this cardigan and delighted that I made him something. I haven’t done that since he was a young boy.

Thanks Martin. Have you looked at these patterns? I haven’t made a lot of men’s clothes other than shirts for my husband and son. But this pattern was a pleasure to make and I also have Thread Theory Henley tee shirt pattern as well as the Jebidiah shorts and I want to make these too for my son.

no, I dind’t. Since I make my own patterns I don’t buy them anymore. Maybe I should give it a try, because this cardigan is very nice. I guess the patterns are avalible only via internet?! Thread Theory does good work I think.

I bought these Thread Theory patterns online and then downloaded them and pasted the pages together. If you can make your own patterns then you may be able to create a similar style. You are very clever Martin.

Great Cardigan , really nice the insertions on the shoulders. I am so tempted to buy the jedediah pants and the goldstream peacoat… you say that the instructions are so great so I may try that…make a surprise for my husband :).

Thank-you so much. I highly recommend these patterns and I have looked at many blogs where there are great versions of the Newcastle cardigan as well as the Jebediah pants and Goldstream Peacoat.

Thank-you so much ThreadTheory. And thank-you for such a great pattern. My son loved the pattern picture straight away when I showed him and once I had made and finished it for him, he has hardly taken it off. I have since bought some more Merino and will make him another.
