I found a great Vogue pattern (V2988) that I could make a few items from. I did a cotton version of the top I didn’t love and thought it would be a great pattern for stretch. And it was.
The top has panels with sharp corners and I thought it best to emphasize these with contrasting colours. Also with the black on the outer sides it would hopefully make my waist look a little curvier as I am straight up and down. I may need to shorten it a little though.
The pants were altrered slightly, they are supposed to be even higher than waist line but seeing as I don’t like to tuck in my tops it was a little pointless. Plus a little more comfy.
I added two side darts and did a small pleat and tiny stitch line down the centre front to give it a permanently creased effect.
I love this outfit and I have some great fabric for the coat ready and waiting.
Bengadine for the pants (great in windy weather I found!) Ponti stretch for the top. All from tessuti remnants table.

Wow! So elegant and pretty! Great idea in using contrasting fabrics for the top and I very much like the “perma-crease” idea as well! Can’t wait to see the coat!!!

Really great looking. I agree that the black and white colour scheme emphasises the panelling. Look forward to seeing your other items from the pattern.
