Sorry (with my fingers crossed behind my back!) for the super-corniness of the creation name. I was sent this amazing Obama and Africa emblazoned fabric from Nairobi as a gift from two of my favouritest people in the whole world, and it was begging to be turned into a good-times Summer dress. Sigh.. Summer, where for art thou Summer? I modified the Anda pattern by using MALdrich’s brilliant how-to, and adding some elastic into the shoulder to make it less swampifying of my puny shoulders.
Lovely Kenyan Obama/Africa printed cotton (FYI; just found out that 'Hongera' means 'excellent'), stripy bias-binding, red satin ribbon to tie up at back.
Burdastyle of course, MALdrich’s how-to.
Stef and Cait in Nairobi! x
Cecilia for taking the photos. x

Hi Im trying to find the Maldrich howto to alter the Anda pattern the way you ave with a crossover and I dont know where to find it on Burdastyle. Where did you find the howto? I went to Maldrich page and she says shes uploaded it but there is no links to location and I dont know where to look. If you could help that would be great thanks!!! By the way I love that Obama dress methinks it might end up in a Museum one day :)

Very Cool. Printing pics on wax is pretty popular in Africa especially in West Africa. They do it for funerals, birthdays, etc and the entire family makes their clothes for the event from the fabric. Its an awesome sight to behold : )

Hold on to this one. Pass it on to children and children’s children. I can see it years and years down the road. Antique roadshow, memorabilia. Tell your children practice the gasp! Oh my god! This silly old thing is worth what?
