Burda Style For people who sew
Description
The original is by an austrian designer called Lena Hoschek
I fell in love with this skirt from the first seconds.
I couldn’t think of anything else till it was finished.
And I am not the only one who sewed it.
All necessary constructions and calculations can be found on my blog
I am afraid they are only available in German, but you might understand it anyway.

да, ей уже через 2 недели 15 будет.-)если тебя интерессует конструкция юбки- я давала для русских ссылку на тему на сезоне.советую посмотреть. наши девочки отшили уже немало версий

наверное классно будет! Юль, там был ещё 2 вариант кроя!я неверное для себя его шить буду.

очень интересно- мужу надо видеть уже готовый вариант для “вердикта” – он не умеет представлять – хотя в точку всегда говорит. Хочеться попробовать второй вариант, наверное надо больше ткани на него. Вот только, что-то у меня апатия уже второй месяц к шитью ((((((

This skirt is beautiful. I have read your blog and my computer does a rough translation, so I am not quite sure about all of the details. I read your advice on ruffling which is how I was taught at school many years ago and have happily used since. But a friend of mine who makes wedding dresses uses a different method which I love also, especially when the ruffles are very full. On the wrong side of the fabric where the gathers are to be made, you set the sewing machine to a medium size zig zag and sew over a fine crochet thread. The crochet thread is very strong and you can pull the gathers in very tightly and firmly without fear of the thread breaking.

I know this technique already and also posted about it in my tutorial for petticoats of the 50s. It can be found here on Burda style as an alternative. Actually I don’t like it for the following reasons:
-The ruffles don’t become as pretty and evenly as if you stitch it
- The Zig Zag stitch is visual and hard to remove after sewing over it
This technique doesn’t meet my quality claim.

Yes, I agree with you. It is not as neat and the ruffles are harder to make even. I usually use this method when the fabric is very thick (eg. ruffles for cushions or curtains).
