Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I designed, drafted and sewed this wedding dress for my wedding last year. There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears but it was creative fun at the same time.
The bodice is based on miasu’s Contour Bust Dress tutorial, however I also added boning and lining. The skirt I drafted from scratch and I also included a short train. I deliberately made the train short (it’s only 1.5m) to minimise the risk of tripping and the amount of worry and bother associated with a long train. I sewed horsehair braid into the hem to support shape of the train. Working with the delicate corded lace was the trickiest part.
Although it was a stressful few months, I really loved working on my wedding dress!
