Description
Back in the 60s and 70s Simplicity ran a ‘Designer Fashion’ line of patterns which were, shall we say.. inspired by the leading fashion designers of the day. This dress is is made from one such pattern, the Simplicity 7705 Jiffy wrap dress. It was the third dress I made and I prepared a sloper and adjusted the heck out of the pattern (its a size down from my size and had so much ease I had to size it down further). I used a vintage bedsheet my Nan had given me when I left home for Uni, t was so pretty she never used it and I couldn’t bear to use it as a sheet either so I sewed it up into a dress.

I am trying to make a similar dress. it has a really loud print to it though and it is looking more like a bathrobe than a dress. i have to refit it and take out a lot of the added bulk. this may make it acceptable. your dress has inspired me to get it back and and fix it.

Oh good stuff, what I find can help (if you don’t have a sloper) is to lay a well fitting top/ dress over it to see where the excess fabric is that needs removing. Try folding it in half first (vertically) if its not obvious to begin with.
