Elmira Heights, ...
This project has a silly beginning. I got a summer job in a department store and the dress code is all black and I realized that while it’s a miracle my black tights last as long as they do, I don’t actually own that much black clothing. Of course, I finished this skirt about two weeks before I go back to school…but that’s beside the point.
I’ve been holding on to this black brocade for about a year thinking I would made a nice blazer out of it. Then the flared godet skirt popped up and I just HAD to make it. Knowing that I wasn’t going to be making a blazer this summer, I decided to use the brocade. I made the “wrong side” of the fabric the right side and couldn’t be happier with the result. I love the fullness and absolutely adore the pockets! It’s the first skirt I’ve fully lined too.
Note: the only pattern changes I made were to switch the button front for a single panel (putting in a back zipper) and to shorten it
