For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches (+/- the sherlock style pipe). I even briefly considered becoming a college professor so it would be part of the expected “uniform”.
Fast forward several years, I decided that regardless of my chosen career I wanted this jacket. I bought the fabric and elbow patches during a trip to NYC this summer and followed Gertie’s Retro Starlet Jacket video to help me along with the tailoring. The tailoring was done with the fusible method. I’m overall satisfied with the jacket except that one of the sleeves refused to go in as it should so there is a wee bit of excess fabric along the sleevehead. Its based on Butterick 4610.

Aw thanks. Angling the pocket and flap did cause me to pause and scratch my head!
