Comfortable for Western Australian summer, these rayon jersey knit / Ity maxi dresses will be easy to wear. I made these three for my step daughter, who’s birthday is actually on 25th December, and is expecting!
The floral one is an Ity. great to sew. The other two streeeeeeetchy rayon jersey knits had a huge stretch running vertical also, so I needed to make the dresses, then hang them on the mannequin. The next day the length had dropped about 6cm. Cut off to desired length and then hemmed. I used two different bias edging methods on the neckline and armholes, all worked very well with these fabrics. The twin stitching on the grey dress is done with a $300 Singer machine I found in Borneo – somewhere in Sarawak!, very temperamental machine, but with patience it can be done! I really look forward to getting back to Australia and dusting off my Janome!
Gorgeous Fabrics for the floral – Carnation Nation ITY Jersey – Corals/Greens on Black. and the pink dress – Striped rayon jersey – pink/navy. (both still available). The grey stripe could be found online at a few places, but this one is from Marcy Tilton. Both in the US.
