Burda 5/2011 nr 125
I think i altered almost everything that can altered in a dress. I skipped the long sleeves, made the skirt longer (though i wanted to make it much longer than now), made the pockets wrong ( now i know how it’s supposed to be) and made two pleats to necklace (’cos it was way to big). And had to cut front piece not folded.
One big thing i missed when i bought the fabric that it had faded in some places. But i loved the print so much i decided i dont care and sewd it as a sample dress anyway.
I added three buttons to cover the front. By the way, the buttons are leftovers from my Splash of Colour dress as is the bottom border. They originally wrere curtains which had buttons for some reason. I still have some left ;)
It was finished a month ago but i couldn’t find any lace to add to bottom so it waited its turn :) I’m not 100% happy with this lace, maybe one day I will find the perfect match :D
I would like to make it again some day. I just love those giant pockets. I imagine yellow couour, a long skirt and long sleeves and of course pockets. But it has to be the rght kind of fabric. As always, my ladies. Its all about the fabric! ;)
Old old faded cotton bedsheet, three buttons, invizible zipper ( i just LOVE those)

I love the dress you made, it is a simple country dress, that can be worn all day, it is also functional, those big pockets, if lined can be used for harvesting berries. It reminds me of my dirndls in a lighter fabric. Good Job.

Thank you very much for your kind words! I like the idea about berries :P I originally wanted to caal the dress Picking Apples because pockets are great for that ;)

I LOVE the vintage look and also that you didn’t give up on your idea for finishing this dress. You took the bits that weren’t working and did a “Tim Gunn” – “Make it work”! It shouldn’t matter if it is not perfect. If you feel special wearing it, that is the key!
