Description

I set myself a mission, at times I thought it was an mission impossible, to breathe so new life into some old clothes. I used an old nightie, vest top, duvet cover and some left over green jersey. I was a bit undecided about the dress last night but today I love it, it just needed the sun to smile down on it to bless it.

Hmm what did I do. A lot of head scratching mainly, I found it quiet scary to hack up the top and nightie as if I cut them wrong there was no second chance. I first made a lining skirt out of an old duvet cover, as the flowery fabric was very thin. Basically the skirt is 2 rectangles gathered at the top with elastic. Next I added the green strip to the top. Lastly sewed the top to the skirt along the skirts elastic band. All this gave me a headache as I’ve never joined cotton to jersey before.

I made a cheeky little bow brooch to balance out the top.

Material Notes

Old cotton nightie and duvet cover for the skirt. Old jersey vest, and jersey scrap for the top and bow.
Elastic for dress, button and brooch back
