This top is based on the free Burda Style pattern The Sonja Dress. The fabric is very special because it was sent to me from a friend in Niger. It is Nigerian ankara, a kind of resin-printed fabric. As for the pattern, I took the dress and shortened it to make a peplum top as these have been heavily featured this season!

Great idea! I like it much better than the Sonja Dress, and I’m actually considering making this (and wasn’t even considering that pattern). Thanks for posting this!

LOVES! African prints are my favourite – this was a perfect blend of a dramatic pattern and simple but elegant silhouette.

Such a striking top. Great style to show off that fabric. I love how the bodice is narrow at the shoulders. And with that peplum it makes for a very flattering shape. Fabulous job :-)
