The Snow Queen

Added Feb 8, 2014

by marie-michelle

Le Croisic, France

Short mandarin collar jacket, helmet hat and long dress entirely hand-stitched and hand-embroidered with 56 500 galvanized silver Japanese glass beads and 10 grams of real silver thread spangles on pale blue organic cotton jersey fabric. The ensemble has used 8 yards of fabric, countless working hours, some 25 000 stitches and more than 900 meters of thread. It is at once a feat of patience, a humble nod to Slow Design and due homage to time-honoured North American craftsmanship.

Material Notes

Pale blue organic cotton jersey, Miyuki glass beads, real silver thread spangles.

You are an amazing person and seamstress! You look absolutely stunning in your Snow Queen outfit. I can only begin to imagine the hours it took to do this… all of the times an errant bead tumbled across the floor…….WOW!
