This is the sample of my new PDF pattern (available at Craftsy and Etsy). It’s inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett’s book The Secret Garden (one of my favourite books). As the story is about changing, this dress turns from a lovely day dress into a magical party dress with the addition of a tiered organza skirt (with butterflies on it).
I made it as part of my independent project for my degree in Fashion Design at Bishop Burton College in Yorkshire. The pattern instructions and sewing instructions are educational and show you how to get better results in your dressmaking.
This sample is for age 3 years.
As with most little girls’ dresses, one metre of 150cm wide fabric is enough for the full length of the dress. An additional 0.5m (white) was needed for the lining and collars. I used 0.5m of organza for the over-skirt. It’s nice and soft and very pretty. : )
