Description
vintage burda dress
that i made to wear at my friend’s wedding yesterday
favorite thing i made to date
and i made a lot of stuff
..
this dress almost never happened:
first i cut front bodice lining instead of front bodice
and used all of my fabric before realizing it
and was so pissed, that i almost give up
but in the end, i like this more fitted look better than original one
so it was a lucky accident
..
then i accidentally cut back of the skirt in half
dunno why, dress has in seam zipper at the left side
and now i have that back seam for no reason
..
also, fabric was slightly off grain while i was cutting skirt pieces
so skirt pieces looked croocked
i fixed that, but as a result
skirt is a bit too tight at the hips
but i can live with that
..
see more pictures on my blog mokosha
Material Notes
rayon fabric, 1,7m
a bit of cotton for bodice lining
60cm in seam zipper
Difficulty
Intermediate

Beautiful! Your dress looks wonderful. I am wondering at the moment whether to make up this dress or not. The pattern is so beautiful but I don’t know about all the drapey stuff on my body.

thanks, jodi! it’s a really beautiful pattern, and if you want to avoid extra drapey stuff at front, you can use front bodice lining pattern piece instead of regular and more drapey front bodice piece, and get more fitted look

You did it great!!! I love it! I actually made a lot mistakes in the bodice and the shoulders of the garment are weird…But yours is so well sewn! Bravooo!

It’s so unlike your usual stuff, but I really like it. It looks really professional, like something from a boutique. You totally look like a grownup.

Love it! Sometimes, mistakes work themselves out to masterpieces, and this is a perfect example. The fabric, the fit, the dress, all very nice :)

he he, kad jednom budemo naletele jedna na drugu u gradu u burda haljinama od istih materijla i u istim cipelicama, biće ludo :D

You inspire me to make this kind of dress! Is the neckline really called ‘russian scarf’? I like Russia

thanks, i’m glad you like the dress.. and, no, neckline has nothing to do with russia, it’s just that the fabric print reminded me of traditional russian scarves, hence the name of the post
