Did you see “the beginners?” Melanie Laurent wears a nice red dress in some parts of the movie and on the cover. I watched the movie a year ago and was on the hunt for the perfect red (jersey) fabric ever since. I am not so much in love with the cut of it, I just wanted a red dress…badly!
A couple of weeks ago I went fabric shopping with a friend. She loved the red we found just as much as I did and requested immediately THE DRESS (we saw the movie together, go figure ^^)
although in a slightly different version (inspiration for the pattern was the street style photo she found on one of my pinterest boards → girl with spring dress and green cardigan).
I made the skirt a circle and the bow/belt larger, also it has no sleeves
All in all I finished the dress in about 4 hours (inlcuding making the pattern) and it’s on its way to her. I hope she likes it and maybe she sends me some pictures where she’s wearing it so I can replace the bad light dummy pictures. EDIT: here she is, looking out the window :3 I kinda love the picture <3
Soon I will make myself the dress, probably again with another pattern, not sure yet, we’ll see ;)
