This fabric was actually meant more for a dress but honestly, I knew I’d get more wear out of it, if it was a top. So I opted for a lovely pleated number, something a little tricky (for me) and I’m really pleased with the results.
It’s a McCalls pattern #6565. Pleats in the front and some pocket-like sections on the hips. Whilst it was initially quite puffy around the waist (something I overlooked) it did manage to settle down after hanging up. It’s fully lined and quite fitted – no zipper no nothing. But the fit was a labour of love. I had just recently watched on Craftsy – 40 (or was it 50) techniques every sewer should know. It was a great confidence booster, even though I’ve probably only used 2 or 3 of the techniques so far, I highly recommend it.
I’m just not 100% sure what to wear it with now…. it needs a nice jacket!
