Description
Fitted spring coat
This is the first coat I have made that actually fitted. I have made several from patterns before, but they all ended up being several sizes too big, especially for my rather dainty shoulders. So I drafted this from my most-beloved secondhand coat, which is actually a 32 (I am not). I did a FBA on just the princess piece, added a little more room at the hip, and voila, perfect fit. The only other thing I changed was to make the collar smaller.
I am especially proud of the three-piece sleeves. They have a J-shaped piece on the underside, so there is a lot of elbow room! I’m considering shortening them to a 3/4 sleeve, though. Any opinions on sleeve length?
And YAY for remembering the hanger loop!

Great coat! You did a great job with the pattern and the fabric choice really makes it stand out. I’d leave the sleeves as they are. They look good this way and full length sleeves are much more practical on a coat than 3/4 length.
