I feel like this is the type of project that all your experience builds up to, the kind of thing that once it’s done you get gratification unlike anything else you’ve ever made. This dress is made from two formal dress patterns which I combined- McCall’s 5382 for the upper bodice, and simplicity 3878 for the waistband and skirt. It took quite a while, and I also didn’t make a muslin (this was sheer laziness, but in all honesty it turned out so well that it didn’t really matter). The material is crepe-back satin, underlined with muslin on the top part to give it more support. The skirt is tulle with more crepe-back satin underneath, and a layer of netting and lining under that for extra volume.

This is amazing. Well done, you! You look incredible. The two patterns combined perfectly and the standard is professional. I’m in total awe.

Thank you guys! Prom is actually tonight- that’s why there’s no adorable date with me in these photos. :) I finished the dress with two days to spare- talk about cutting it close! Anyways, your comments are greatly appreciated!
