I designed, drafted, and sewed this dress myself for a school project. I was inspired by ornate picture frames and wanted to frame the back and neckline. I found this vintage flocked dotted swiss gingham at a local flea market and decided it would be perfect for a summer dress. The dress is fully lined (my first time) and I’m very proud of the fit and the construction.

5 stars for you! Soooo well executed in all categories. I don’t know if I like the back better than the front!

This dress is gorgeous. You’re very talented. I can’t think of a body type that it wouldn’t flatter.I hope you’re planning on making a pattern for this available eventually.

I would love to, but I would need to digitize it and grade it. It’s too time consuming now with school. :( Hopefully I will have some time though one day.

This is so pretty. The shaping on the bust and the open back are subtle but really elegant. I’d love to see this on a real body. I bet it’d be gorgeous on someone with light skin and really dark hair.

Wonderful design! I have a similar gingham in yellow that I’ve been thinking about for ages. I was waiting for some fabulous retro inspired design, now I think I have a direction to go in! I’d love to look over your how you put it together if you can manage to get one done. Thanks for making a great dress!

When I get the dress back from my instructor (she kept all the projects for grading) I will have pictures of the inside on my blog :)
Thanks for the comment!
