Description

Hooray! I finished my first vintage pattern, a 1963 beauty from Simplicity. Its abstract bow neckline made me fall in love, so it seemed the perfect pattern for my Valentine’s Day dress. Made up in a red striped cotton and coordinating red twill, it turned out beautifully. I did make a few changes, of course – switching the gored skirt to a dirndl and adding an invisible zipper. However, now I’m plotting a solid version of this dress, with the pattern’s original six-gore skirt.

More pictures and construction details can be found at my blog, Idle Fancy.
