Description

Making the pattern is a collaboration between myself and Marian Collier Collections.
This dress is amazing! It is flattering on most every woman’s figure. It’s the Maxi of all Maxi’s:
For my Burdastyle seamstresses, I’ve included a link where you can purchase a PDF pattern of the dress. Full sized hard copies are available too…Just ask.
I’d love to have your feedback.

It’s a very simple square with straps I have several versions in my projects. And my prom dress that I recently posted is based on this style as well. It’s a style made famous by Nichole Miller.

You’re right, the Nicole Miller hanky dress was the inspiration dress. The dress shown has no center front seam and Nicole Miller’s does.

It looks fabulous! Reminds me of some of Madeleine Vionnett’s dresses. I wonder about the European sizes though, a sz 6 UK is equivalent to a European size 34, which would normally be a size xs, so I think sz 30 is probably not correct?

This is absolutely great! The fabric goes so well with the design of the dress. The only problem I have with it is that I wouldn’t be able to wear it because you would not be able to wear a bra… :-(

line it with swimwear cups or get a sticky bra they work well.

They don’t make sticky bras big enough! It’s wires all the way for me! : )

No worries, It looks great with a baby T or T-Back tank underneath, so you can wear your standard bra with it.
Here’s a pic of a customer wearing a version of the dress with a tank. http://www.flickr.com/photos/metrofrock/3485822771/
I made some adjustments to the original in the back seam in which the back comes up higher than shown on my dress form. You should be able to see the difference from the side view of the photo attached.
