I think the romper trend is quite cute, but I’ve found that if you have a long torso like me, the waist band is always too high and then the shorts pull up in the bum in a very unflattering way.
So I made my own! I found this lovely old-fashioned looking floral print on sale at Fabricland. I took a great deal of time drafting the pattern and I think it paid off, although next time I will make some alterations because there’s extra fabric that gathers up in the small of my back. I based the shorts on a pair of pleated shorts that I already own, and drafted the top using my basic bodice block to place the bust darts and arm holes. I did pin tucks down the front and back instead of vertical darts. The waistband is a drawstring, concealed on the inside.
Very light weight woven cotton/rayon blend.
