itś one of wenlan chia’s crations in her book Twinkle sews. the skirt is made in the balloon technique while the upper part has a sophisticated way to be bead. between the loops the band is knotted to imitate little diamonds on a necklace.
its a funny dress although its rather bulky with the balloon. I had the main difficulties with reading the instructions in specific sewing english :-) i don’t know yet if the dress is really wearable….
the fabric is somehow embroidered wool . for the lining I used dark blue cotton.

I just ordered this book and am dying to try out some of the patterns you’ve posted. This looks very complicated in terms of construction (at least on the top), but the neckline is divine!

I love this neckline too. I have the book and want to try this pattern, but even for an english speaker, the directions are hard to follow!

The neckline is very unique, must’ve taken a lot of patience. My vote is WEARABLE, definitely attract attention wearing this, well done…plus I think you’ve just generated more sales on this book!!

i got that book for christmas, and the next big thing dress is at the top of my list to make just as soon as i get back in the same state with my sewing machines! i love what you’ve done with it, your fabric is lovely! although you’re right that it might be difficult to find a situation to wear it in.

Beautiful, I can’t wait to make this dress however I have to confess a bit intimidated by it, need to get a muslin to make first

I think you did a great job. A very unique neckline. I love it. I wonder how that would look using a silk material? I have my old wedding dress(I am now divorced) I can maybe recycle it. What is the pattern name on that?
