This coat has been a long time coming. And I’m glad it’s done, but I don’t know if sewing a thick wool coat was the best idea in this heat. It makes it worse that my sewing room is the hottest room in the apartment (that is the main reason I get to have a sewing room all to myself!). Needless to say, when I started sweating profusely I had to just put it all down and take a water break.
I first bought the fabric and notions for this coat nearly 2 years ago because I’ve hated the winter coat I’ve been using forever. I finally decided since I wasn’t doing anything this summer that I needed to just take the plunge and do it. I even did everything the way I’m supposed to instead of cutting corners like usual – interfacing everywhere, cotton batting underlining for extra warmth, even hand sewing the lining sleeve cap in place. It has tested my patients, but it’s worth it in the end. I won’t be getting cold this winter in subzero blizzards!

Love it! Great job! (our weather is very cool here now, after a very hot, humid summer. Is it cooling there, too?)
