I’ve had the Marie Pattern downloaded for months and months now and I finally got around to making it, in the plainest fabric possible. I had grand plans for brocade and linen, but I ended up with cotton. How much more basic can you get? That being said, I love the pleats, and I like the shape, I think it looks a bit like a tulip. And it is now the only black summer weight skirt I own. So my quest for not-so-basic basics continues.
The only issue I have with this pattern is, well, the bottom of the skirt. It’s a touch restrictive, so there is no way I could ever bike in it, which I find to be a bit of a bummer. But I suppose it’s worth the sacrifice for the tulip shape, right? RIGHT?
All in all, I do quite like this guy, and I even got unsolicited compliments on it the first time I wore it. So Marie, you are a net win, and I will be making you again come winter, in a nice wool. Maybe with a bow? So many possibilities…..
