I dub this project “The Manhattan Dress” don’t ask me why :). I made this dress using the Butterick: 5032 Retro Dress pattern.
Initially the fit of the pattern was not great (particularly on the skirt). It took some work to get the fit right.
For the outside of the dress I used printed quilting cotton (I know, I know). Bodice was lined with a cotton voile and the skirt was underlined with a bleached calico to give it more durability. Whist making this dress I discovered I LOVE underling skirts.
