I received a very special request from a very special client. She asked me for an original Eighteen century redingote (or Riding coat- english word) She wanted all the original cuts and asymmetrical armholes…
As you can see the pattenr has no darts or cuts at the front of the bodice. The back was made as a puzzel shaping the corduroy lines as zigzag.
Everything was made in its original 18th century concept. The capellines trimmed in satin, the pleated skirt, buttoned high collar and even the hippads. Satin covered buttons at the front and at the cuffs. Lovely item definitve, the fit is just amazing!
4 mts corduroy, thick cotton denim as a lining!
light weight cotton as a lining of the skirt and sleeves

Bonjour, je fais moi-même ce modèle basé sur des photos de robes de cette époque. Malheureusement, je ne peux pas vendre. Qu’est-ce que je peux faire est de prendre le but de vendre le produit final. Merci beaucoup pour votre compréhension

Did you draft the pattern yourself or use measurements from a book and altered them for fit? It’s amazing work. I really hope you charged accordingly!

It is true that things like this are very hard to quote for, I’m never very good at estimating how much time is actually going to be spent. Then of course you’re probably like most of us here and time is irrelevant in the pursuit of perfection! My hubby makes me guess and then times it by two lol more often than not he’s right! At least you have the pattern now like you say and you have a better idea for future clients (which you will no doubt have for such outstanding work!).
