Den lilla hon-sjömannen.
The little she-sailor.
This summer I felt the urge to take on the challenge of making swimwear. Since I love the vintage-look, the Alison-pattern was perfect! When making this garment I was inspired by the sailor look: the navy with white details and the sailor button to keep the straps together at the back. You can’t really see the button that detailed in the pictures, but you all know the look – a silver button with an anchor on it! The alterations of the straps is made due to the unfortunate reason of me getting cramps in the neck-area when wearing a garment that ties at the back of the neck. However, I think that the outcome of this alteration is a more sailorish look!
The pattern states the level of difficulty to be intermediate, but actually I will say that it’s a bit more advanced than that.
swimwear-material such as lycra or viscose, and one button.

You said its more difficult than intermediate. How long did it take you? I live in Texas and its always time for a good swim suit :)

Well I had to rip a few seams a couple of times before I understand how to sew it. the instructions are not that gret. And the fabric you use for swimwear is harder to sew than “regular”. But I would absolutly recomend it anyway, it’s a fun project!

It was a bit more tricky than regular cotton. But I’ve sewn a bit in knits, wich is something that I recomend before getting it on with lycra! :) Thanks a bunch for your kind words :)

Great job on the swimsuit. Did you line it? I have been considering making this, with alot of alterations of course.

Thanks :) I only lined it in the crotch, otherwise no lining!
