I haven’t posted anything in a long long time, just getting back into the swing of things now! This is a project, in relation to my ‘The Selkie Bride’ project, this is one of the characters within the story.
I have added my inspiration pages and first ideas and then as you will see it develops into something more exagerated! I was going for an alice in wonderland kind of vibe as alice was very popular then and I felt like it would fit in nicely with my theme!
I’ve done a fair amount of fabric manipulation within this project, mostly using only my printer (A4) and needles and thread! I researched fabric samples that dated back to the 18th century, I then colated them together on an A4 size word document where I then took a piece of paper and a trimmed down a square of calico, spray painted it together. I then printed the document onto the calico by feeding it through my printed, it worked! It was very exciting, I then rinsed it with water to allow some colour to fade and blurr, I then embroidered certain parts.
If anyone wants me to put up a demonstration about printing using your printer at home, please just ask! I’ve came across many people who didnt know you could do it, it’s so simple! :)
I loved this project, it was proabaly what I was most proud of at college.
