We <3 Kaffe Fassett for Liberty Art Fabrics here at BurdaStyle, so we are excited to be using their fabric for this pattern remake! We looked to our Ellinor blouse pattern for this design, and the changes, while looking quite different from the original, we really quite simple.

Here’s what we did: We eliminated the sleeves so you can easily layer a cardigan over this dress, and trimmed the armhole with self-made bias binding for a finished look (see tutorial below). We lengthened the skirt by continuing the side seams to about mid-thigh. We dropped the neckline 1/4" so the neckline would sit at the collarbone. The original pattern calls for trim at the neckline, so we used a contrasting Liberty print in blue for that and added a cute little button to keep the top closed.
3 yards cotton (self), 1/2 yard cotton (trim), 1 yard elastic (waist)

Nice fabric! The Ellinor pattern is very versatile. I never really looked at it (and noticed the daring transparency!) before this post.

Very cute! I just found the most adorable vintage print fabric which would be the perfect candidate for a simple design such as this.

It looks wonderful! I’ve wanted to try the Ellinor pattern for ages, but I couldn’t decide how to alter it. This has given me some new ideas!

A design can change so much just by changing the fabric right? The original blouse was made from chiffon so it looked quite fancy— the cotton really makes this look more casual but still fun ;)

Definitely! I love how casual the cotton looks – I have several metres of drapey green cotton in my stash, and I think it’s destined to become an Ellinor blouse :)
