My flatmate found out about the Rowany Festival, a Renaissance Faire not far from Sydney, with about four days notice for us to have costumes. This particular Faire requires you to wear “an attempt” at pre-17th century clothing, even if you are just visiting for the day. Coincidentally, I was already about 90% finished sewing this dress for something else so I decided to wear it to the Faire as well.
The dress was originally just going to be the purple part, but for the Faire I wanted to add those lovely draped sleeves as well. I didn’t have enough purple fabric left, but I found that lovely pink satin on sale so I decided the colour contrast was the way to go.
The pattern is McCall’s 6141 Renaissance costumes, and it is all satin I got on clearance. All the photos are by pambox, who also came along with us to check out the Faire.
