I think most of us have been in this situation: while making a garment, you come across problems. Problems that take many tries and much time to fix, only to still be imperfect. After spending so much time and energy on said problems, you loose all enthusiasm for the garment. Or it still doesn’t fit right! Well, here is such a situation. (And please excuse the wrinkles, it was a bit of a rush shoot)
The waist is too tight for me to be comfortable in it…and I sewed the zipper in more than once, and redid the buttons twice because they weren’t even! Oh well, it was a learning experience. I am constantly learning from my “mistakes”, and it is critical for any seamstress to do so. Just keep swimming!

It’s a shame you can’t wear this skirt. It’s so cute! And it really suits you.

Oh I’ve so been there before! I’m sorry it doesn’t fit right! I think it’s really cute though. If you can brave the uncomfortable you could definitely wear it!

I totally understand what you mean… Actually most of my works are made by so many mistakes and re-do. I have a box of failed projects. But each piece you make, you are closer to the point you wanna reach, so that’s why we keep sewing and even if you don’t like a piece you made, other people do, just like me! I love this skirt, and I wanna name it “I will definitely wear this skirt!” Thanks for sharing, I am encouraged.

I hear your pain and frustration. I’ve just binned a skirt project, but kept parts of it to practise on or recycle. If it’s too tight for you (doesn’t look it by the way) then maybe give to a friend? It really looks good though.

ps: if it’s cotton, or anything that could shrink in the washer/dryer, you rinse it on cold, put it on damp, and dance around for awhile until it’s dry— that’ll stretch the waistband out. but you’ll have to be ever cautious of how you wash it in the future…
