Pattern: self-drafted
I could not resist adding little apple buttons. (^-^)
What did I learn?
- Putting together this blouse is fairly labour-intensive because of the ruffles, the buttonholes and the collar. Next time, I will definitely pick a higher-quality fabric to get more bang for my time. I’m picturing sand-washed silk, which is very trendy right now.
- Needles matter. They didn’t invent different needle sizes just for the fun of it. It’s not a marketing gimmick. The right needle really does make a difference. In my case here, my American crpe was very thin and delicate, but at the same time pretty resistant (if that makes sense), so my machine had a hard time piercing the fabric, especially at lower speed. So I ended up with the irregular, awful stitch. At first I thought my machine was broken, but then I realised the problem was actually my needle.

Hello BurdaStylers, we thought FC20032C Lime Solid Poplin or FP15832 Grass Solid Charmeuse would work great on this project. You can find them both right here: http://tinyurl.com/66zdrr8

I’m with you on the needle…and for what it’s worth, if you sew a lot those needles should be tossed frequently. On a microscopic level, they get pretty banged every time you sew.

Yes, you are right. When you think about it, they already get so much use in a single project with all those stitches it makes! It shows that experience is the best teacher!
