self drafted, self styled
floor sweeper dress of silk and sequins.
This is the first garment I’ve made (read: finished) by just cutting straight into fabric and modelling the pieces together – no paper, no toile! I constructed the middle sequinned section first. Then positioned the upper section onto it – and really enjoyed working with the fabric to create the pleats by hand (so much more than following pleats on a store-bought pattern!). I added the skirt last – it’s fabric that has a perfect drape: smooth, luxurious and rich.
You can see in the last 3 pics I also whipped up Ichigogirl’s perfect shrug
This is the garment for Project Runway Australia’s second challenge. I am sewing-along by completing each week’s challenge before the next week’s show. You can find out more about the challenge, follow my progress, and even join in here

Beautiful dress :D

Super nice, all of it! I especially like the top part of the dress, the draping worked out really well. And I’m flattered “my” shrug gets to be a part of such a sophisticated creation!

I love the top of this dress. So pretty, soft and sparkly.

This is very beautiful. I love the sequins, I think a girl always needs some sparkle in her life.

Very groovy pash. l like this better than the pink. Monty was wearing a dress of mine last night that looks almost identical to the top half. You did a great job. (he wore it backwards cause it was showing off his belly button)
You are lucky you can wear this, I’d love to but my boobies need a little assistance.
I can’t wait for you to “get through to the finals” .. will you do a whole collection?
Do you think you’ll wear any of these dresses?

A collection? We’ll see if I make it to through to the finals ;)
I really hope the occasion arises to wear this one – I would love to wear it out!
