This is a late 30s dress I made from a pattern one of my friends sent me! (See last photo.) I really love how the dress fits and the drape of the material; I’ve worn it several times already (even though I literally just finished it last week! ;). Now, something I have to admit about this project: the fabric (a rayon faille print), while lovely, does get in the way of the design lines. I was a bit too eager to get going on this that I just grabbed the only length I had that was an appropriate weight. While the dress is still cute, I would love to make this in a “calmer” print or solid so the tiny tucks and yoke-lines stand out a bit more. So see: everyone makes mistakes from time to time! lol. Read more about the process in the blog post I wrote about it: http://blog.caseybrowndesigns.com/2010/01/ginger-dress/

The yoke and the pin-tucks can be seen next time around. This dress, even without them being clearly visible, looks very beautiful in its shape and flow and you look amazing in it!

There’s no mistake here (yeah, I know the design lines would be more noticeable on a solid fabric, but you can always make another dress, right?). The dress is super cute (as always), and the style really suits you!

This dress is so lovely! The fabric is just perfect for spring, though it is a pity for all that work on the tucks. Nevermind! You look wonderful in it!

I love this so much! You have the best patterns ever! Your clothes are always so lovely! I get what you mean about the details being lost in the print, but its so fun to look at!

Wow, I love this dress. I get what you’re saying about the fabric. You can see the tucks and yoke-lines but, me, I’d like to see them a little more pronounced. But the fabric is lovely. Anyway, great work. I can’t wait to see the next one!

It’s gorgeous! But I see your point with all the details “drowning” in that cute flowery fabric. Nevertheless, I think the cut suits this fabric, but we’ll see how the next will turn out?

Love this! The buttoned front is interesting, I like the big buttons you used. I like the shape of this dress a lot.
