The First Time For Everything Blouse

This blouse is a lot of firsts for me! First vintage pattern, first time re-sizing a pattern, first time trying to match stripes….I’m glad I picked such a simple design! Because otherwise, I think it would have been nervous breakdown time. As it is, I’m actually quite proud of this blouse! It’s a super simple shape, but I think it’s pretty flattering, especially to people with curves. I plan on making this puppy again in several incarnations. Let’s see how that goes, shall we?

The pattern is Butterick 7490, which is fairly simple to put together. I sort of said screw it to the seam binding, but that’s a whole other story….

More photos and text on my blog!

Material Notes

Vintage cotton shirting and vintage thread, one plastic zipper, seam binding

Very nice top. Looks comfy and cool. You did a nice job lining up the stripes, takes patience. Can’t wait to see more. Happy Sewing! (Oh and if you want a really nice top for summer you should try Collette’s Sorbetto, it is really easy to make and it is a free download on this site)

I love the Sorbetto Top! I’ve already made one, and posted it here! But I’m going to make more, it’s so lovely!
