Last week, The Sew Weekly’s theme was to make our own version of a garment we loved. I chose a dress I’d been salivating over, from one of my favorite fashion bloggers – Esme and the Laneway. The original had a softly pleated skirt and – the best bit! – a piped, sweetheart-shaped button placket joining the yoke and main bodice.
I used the Colette Macaron and Peony as pattern bases to draft my own version, made from a lovely pale yellow floral. With the fabric-covered chocolate brown buttons and the handmade piping, this dress turned out even better than I’d expected. A perfect frock for early Spring!

Thank you! The buttons are my favorite part too – they were what really made me want to copycat the original dress.
