Finally! It is about one and a half years ago that I was asked to contribute something to the first BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook and I was so thrilled! But we were not allowed to talk/post about it for such a long time now that it actually feels strange to finally show and tell. So this is my contribution – I changed a few things from the original pattern: I made the collar higher, used a zipper instead of the buttons, made a balloon shaped hem, widened the sleeves at the cuffs (bishop sleeves) and added that really wide belt. I have blogged about it and will write more about the changes I made, including lots of pictures of course. So if you are interested, please come visit me at Of Dreams and Seams

Wow this is great. It reminds me of cossacks and pirates. Like some sort of cossack-pirate.

Amazing! I really like the Russian vibe it has, and I like the color. It almost looks like a costume from the movie “The Barber of Siberia”. Well done, girl!

Aw, thank you!!! Yes, lots of people commented on the Russian vibe and even though it wasn’t planned, I guess it’s a reference to my Russian name ;-)

Oooh, that’s good to know – I thought it was really easily over-looked in the book ;-) It looks so much darker in the print… Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Katja, this is such a statement coat! I love the bold color that you used, and the lining is lovely. What an honor to be featured in Burdastyle’s first book. You should be so proud.
