Description

The clothing of the peasants was usually made of rough wool or linen. Peasant women spun wool into threads and wove cloth that was turned into clothing for their families. The base for the cloth was usually a russet (brown), so most clothing was a fairly drab combination of browns, reds, and grays, with only small variations. Both men and women wore clogs or shoes made of thick cloth or leather. These costumes were made to emulate this attire. These were made for a costume party that we (me & husband) had at our home but we have wore them a couple of times to Renaissance Fairs.

Material Notes

Both costumes are a mix of linen and wools. My bodice is a mock sueded leather with grommets that I rusted with chemical before using them. Leather laces and fabric was used for both of our shoes.
