Just because I am a novice seamstress that doesn’t mean I have to make simple and dull clothes. Here is how I got to practice straight stitching and sewing a zipper with no fear of ruining fabric and no more than US$0.4
Patches of leftover fabric (cotton); an old pillow case for my lining; an invisible zipper.

That’s so sweet – thank you!! It really wasn’t hard to make, it was more about the time I had to put into this project. Sewing all the little pieces of fabric took a while. But it was super fun to make and I do feel happy when I wear it!! Try it yourself! I’d love to see your own version of it!

Great skirt! Did you use a pattern and if so which one? I have been looking for a simple but nice skirt and yours is perfect. Happy Sewing!

Thank you so much!! Actually, I drafted my own pattern (I just started taking these sewing lessons that teach you that kind of stuff), but you can try this: http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/a-line-skirt
Can’t wait to see your finished project! Oh, another fun idea is to have rows of different colors, like this:“http://www.google.com.br/imgres?imgurl=http://blog.craftzine.com/PatchworkCircleSkirt.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2008/02/how_to_make_a_patchwork_skirt.html&usg=__lYLT-yEuHOg5tqH_paCjZrqu8GY=&h=500&w=375&sz=294&hl=pt-BR&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=qf0-KDCpW7H9zM:&tbnh=158&tbnw=119&ei=kQ20Tey4KYX30gHq2rX1CA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpatchwork%2Bskirt%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dpt-BR%26safe%3Dactive%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1503%26bih%3D647%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=131&vpy=57&dur=1291&hovh=259&hovw=194&tx=118&ty=118&page=1&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0”

Thank you, girl! Why don’t you start collecting your scraps right now? It was such a fun project to make! It took me a long time to sew all the patches together, but apart from that, it was so pleasant and I love the result!
