Description

This is a whimsical jumper dress in spring green with puffy/short sleeved blouse in complimentary shades of ivory and green lawn. Jumper dress is made from a vintage pattern (1970’s) and features buttons down the back and straps that crisscross and button at front. Blouse is puff sleeve variety with Peter Pan style collar.

The first 4 pics of the garment are a bit “work in progress” in many ways. At this point I still needed to give Coraline another good ironing and remove the chalk guide lines. These pics where also taken a bit hastily. Not that my kitchen and sewing room don’t have their charms…They definitely do. But I still wanted to take some better pics.

Pictures 5-9 are the final shots and I’m uber pleased! I handled dress form placement while my talented hubby handled the photographing. I was a bit opposed at the idea of the outdoor photo shoot, but the weather was cooperative and some good shots where taken.

It’s the old fashioned look of this that I love the most. We just don’t make clothing like this anymore. I can’t remember the last time I had a dress with buttons marching down the back….

Patterns used: Burda 7831 and Simplicity Vintage Jumper Dress Pattern 6926.

Material Notes

What a beautiful outfit! I love the color and the design! I have to agree with you about clothing not being made like this anymore, that is why we need to treasure our old patterns! Great job and I look forward to seeing your next creation!

Thanks for all the awesome comments you guys! So encouraging:) My next version of this will be red on the jumper dress…but I have yet to find a red and white print for the top though. Oh well, something to hunt for for. I found this roll of jumbo width black rickrack too. Maybe I’ll use some of that next time too.

Anyhooo. Thanks again for all the great feedback!
