The color purple & me

Somerville, Mass...

My Carl (JJ) blouse, last post of the year. I loved this pattern, and will definitely be sewing up more versions in the near future, maybe with ruffles, probably not.

This was made with a vintage plaid cotton I snagged from my mom. The weave was off a little toward one selvedge, and there was just enough for the shirt. I was indecisive about the ruffles, and found out there wouldn’t be enough yardage for them anyway (I’m kind of glad). I did a slight variation on the armband by making a loop instead of buttonhole. So happy that ease was included in the pattern!

I’m pleased as punch with it, and if you’d like to see more photos and read more process, please click over to my blog

The idea of making a shirt always scares me a little. The facings, the buttonholes, tucks (if there are any). But this one of yours is crisp, flawless and fits you fantastically! AND you matched the plaid so well!

This is perfection – and you look lovely in it (as always Honey!) I can understand the procrastination re the ruffles – but I think with the plaid it could look a little too busy – it definitely is more “classic” as it is. xxx

I know you’ve got the skills! Just like the bodice to a dress, but not ;) Now pintucks….I’m apprehensive there, too.

Why, thank you! Flawless, it’s not, but that’ll be our secret :)
