Cocoon-style coat with kimono sleeves. Based on a mix of a stylized-kimono jacket I made in Flat Pattern Design, this beautiful coat I came across in my market research (http://www.polyvore.com/preen_line_wool-blend_funnel_neck/thing?id=9713151), and Elsa Schiaparelli’s designs.
We had to do 2 pieces (coat or jacket and either skirt or dress). I’m not a suit-kind-of girl, so I went with a coat and dress. Like a butterfly/coccon, the big oversized coat is removed to display a sweet, colorful, playful dress.
I’m very proud of the bound buttonhole pockets and the mostly hand-stitched lining that is pleated with the outer fabric!
Wool/cashmere, wool/tweed, bridal satin, metal buttons

Pretty interesting coat. Love the asymmetry and the texture in the coat. The buttons are beautiful too.
