A form fitting dress, shaped using waist and bust darts. It includes neckline yoke trimmed with golden band. An invisible zipper is inserted to the back seam. The dress has a back slit for easier walking.
I was inspired by Sew4my3’s creation, a lovely vintage looking dress she made for her daughter.
Sorry for the bad quality pictures, I will post better ones as soon as I get them.

Hello AnaJan Is there any chance of this great shape being scaled-up to a plus? I’m already imagining what I can embellish the neck-line with to balance a heavier lower end.

Hi ukwendy, sorry for the late reply, I don’t know how I missed your question.
I am not an expert on grading patterns, so I can’t help you much with this. However, this dress’ pattern can be easily made by altering a basic sheath dress sloper. If you have such sloper, you can make your own Bordeaux dress pattern. I can post a technique for this alteration, if you want.

hi, yes i did cut out the dart space…i’ve always done that, figuring im just left with that extra bulk you have to iron over…I usually end up cutting it off anyways. but I guess it would have been about 1/4 of an inch smaller and shorter (the side darts) and maybe they wouldnt come so far in. I still think the dress will work, I finished the neckline anyways and I think with the stretching you wont notice..I will post photos once Im finished. Im new to the whole zipper thing, so I pray that goes well. Cross fingers! God Bless Groovy

Hi, I am putting this dress together right now.. The darts on the front, under the arms and the bust, have met right together on mine causing pointy areas right around the bust (unflattery) umm… I added seam allowance to all of the outer lined, should I have added seam allowance to the darts as well? Im not sure why the darts would meet right there together. I love this pattern and am using an awesome pc of vintage fabric Ive been wanting to try on something special. I hope it turns out wearable. Thanks so much GroovyBoutique

Hello groovyboutique,
So sorry to hear that! I am not sure how that happened.
Did you cut out the fabric from the darts’ space? If you did so, that’s what you did wrong. The darts should be sewed over the dart lines drawn on the pattern.
If this is not the case with your dress, you can post a photo of your dress, so I can see it and maybe I could help you more with it.

I have posted the instructions under Print at Copy Shop Pattern PDF, but they are rather vague. In case you need any additional help with it, let me know and I’ll try to explain better.
Good luck!

It’s good to hear that! Please, post some pictures of the dress when you find some time.
Also, if you’re willing to share your resizing skills, I think many members would appreciate a how to (Including me! Unfortunately, my drafting skills are limited to my size only).

AnaJan, are there no instructions? or am ai just blind this morning (which I could be since I have a degenerative cornea disease)? I like the dress, hence I downloaded the pattern, but I didn’t see instructions available on either the pattern or project page.
