Another winter dress, this time one that can be layered. I found this lightweight but very warm wool weave at Rozelle Markets. It’s apparently an English wool, and very good quality. I don’t sew with wool weave very often, but I absolutely love it. It’s the nicest fabric to work with, it goes through the machine extremely easily and cuts perfectly every time.
The dress is from the Stylish Dress Book, it’s the pattern on the cover. I covered the seams in bias binding to stop them from fraying. I stitched the pleats down further than the pattern asked, as it was a bit too much like a tent with the pleats finishing mid-bust. Making the pleats extend to the empire line gives the dress a better fit.
