Description

Inspired by Betty Draper (isn’t everyone nowadays?) I made this dress to wear to a summer wedding. I underlined the whole thing with silk organza, which was quite an experience (but worth it – the dress has a lovely rustle from the silk and nice body!) I used Vintage Vogue 2960, and found it quite nice, except for how I’m not going to be wearing a girdle (I had to go out 2 whole sizes in the waist to make it fit!) It’s also quite a bit shorter – the 50s length doesn’t work on me. My blog entry for this project is here.

Material Notes

Brushed cotton, possibly for sheets. I adore this print – it makes me think of garden parties!

I can’t believe it! I’ve just made this dress too (Purple Patterned Dress). I think your fabric choice works better than mine. I think the cotton I used was a little too light weight to make the bodice sit properly. I made it a lot shorter too and changed the pleats to gathers. I love the neckline and the low back. I’m looking forward to trying the pattern again.
