I’m a PhD student, right now I’m meant to be writing up some of my research and preparing for my field work which starts in little over a week. Instead today I made myself a t-shirt.
It is made of a very soft cotton jersey in dark grey, with floral stripes of roses and vines in muted green and pink. The design is very simpe, just two pieces of fabric stitched together at the sides, with the sleeves part of the body.
Cotton jersey, 50cm long, 140cm wide

I do think that sewing is a much better work-avoiding strategy for grad students than the common alternatives of housework or tv watching. At least you end up with a good wardrobe to show for it :-).

and i can wear my good wardrobe when my supervisor yells at me for not getting work done!
actually, my supervisors don’t yell, although i think they sometimes need to give me a little kick to work hard.
