Description

i have not been posting anything for quite a while! reason was, that we have been travelling a lot, i have been ill and the last project (this coat) took me a long time to finish: but here we go!

the pattern is from burdastyle: the “adam” coat. i changed it around a bit: the shoulders are smaller now, the coat is 10 cm longer and i took in quite a lot of the wide backside. the material is (and that was, why i have been so afraid of doing this) the most expensive, i ever payed for, cashmere and the lining is a silk changeant from goldish to grey.

i never have been handsewing so much as on this coat, to give it the right look, and even it took me so long and it was quite a “fight” to finish it, i am very happy with the result and hope you all like it as well

the outfit you see me wearing “under” my coat is made by me as well!

Dear Ralf, I have been waiting so long to see this coat! Let me tell you that you are not disappointing this time either. What a beautiful work. Every single detail on it!!!! The rounded corners works so well with the cashmere and the hand stitching around the edges look so elegant. Love the embroidery on the lining:)) Your surprising little details!!! Sad to hear you were ill. Hope everything is well know and you can go out and show off your perfectly handsome looking and well dressed yourself.

dear timi! that is so kind of you and i am so thrilled, that you like all the detail-work i putted into that coat. as the material was so dear and expensive, i just thought, that i had to do that little extra effort. and it payed off!

You look so dapper with the whole outfit on, and the coat is lovely. I really understand the hesitation of cuttin into expensive fabric – I have a lovely bit of cashmere squirreled away, and have not dared to use it yet! But you put yours to excellent use.

Well done Ralf, it was worth the effort. Coats are never easy projects, but the end result is always so rewarding. You’re lookin’ really handsome in your self made outfit ;-)
